Fisher's Popcorn was founded by Everett Fisher in 1937. He developed a world class recipe for delicious buttery caramel popcorn that has remained unmatched almost 80 years later. Today, Fisher's Popcorn continues to make delicious caramel popcorn by hand the same way it was in 1937 in 4 stores in the Delaware/Maryland beach area, and is distributed to hundreds of retailers up and down the east coast.
In 1937, Everett Fisher started a popcorn shop on the Ocean City boardwalk at Talbot Street. He prided himself on using only the best ingredients and quality cooking methods to make the best caramel popcorn you can buy. When he was old enough, his son, Donald Fisher started helping out at the stand, even helping keep things running when Everett was enlisted during World War II. Everett continued to run things until his death in 1979.
Donald Fisher continued to run the store along with his wife Calvina, and their children, Cindy, Marty, and Don Jr. In 1983, Marty and her husband opened their own store in Fenwick Island, Delaware. In the coming years, they continued to open new stores in the remaining Delaware beach towns, Bethany Beach and Rehoboth Beach. These stores continue to be operated by Marty, Bill, and their children, the fourth generation of Fisher's Popcorn.
In 2010, the Delaware branch of Fisher's Popcorn started offering popcorn for resale to grocery and specialty stores across the mid-atlantic. In recent years, this operation has expanded and Fisher's Popcorn is now sold at over 500 retailers across the country. The popcorn sold at these stores is all made at their Fenwick Island and Rehoboth Beach locations year round using the same methods and ingredients used by Everett Fisher in 1937.
There are two separate entities for Fisher's Popcorn, Fishers Popcorn Inc, which is the original Ocean City location, and Fisher's Popcorn of Delaware, Inc, which comprises the three Delaware stores , and the wholesale operation. This is the website for the Delaware operation. Both companies offer the same caramel popcorn using Everett's original recipe, carefully produced by hand under the supervision of direct Fisher family members. Each company is independent and maintains its own orders, customers, prices, and promotions.
